TRB’s Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) Report 170: Establishing a National Transit Industry Rail Vehicle Technician Qualification Program—Building for Success describes a system of qualification that has been developed for rail vehicle technicians. This qualification system is available for implementation through the Transportation Learning Center.
These are hands-on modules (job task sheets) that were developed by the Greater Cleveland Regional Transportation Authority (GCRTA) and Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 268 during the course of the Centers Federal Transit Administrative 2012 Innovative Workforce Development project: Career Pathways and Career Ladders for the Frontline Workforce: Innovative Models Leveraging Training Standards and Stakeholder Engagement.
The Transit Training Network uses technology to enable learning and sharing of training resources across agencies to strengthen training for transit’s frontline workforce.
