This Train-the-Trainer course teaches basic adult learning principles using the context of the consortium developed courseware.
Since 2010, elevator/escalator maintenance subject matter experts from 5 member agencies and unions worked with instructional systems designers from the Transportation Learning Center to create training materials. The list of courseware as of Summer 2020 is listed in this document.
The purpose of the Overview of Vertical Transportation Course is to assist the participant in demonstrating proper safety procedures and developing a working knowledge of the functions of various escalator and elevator components, controls, and assemblies.
The purpose of the Escalator Specific - Principles of Operation Course is to assist the participants in demonstrating proper safety procedures and a working knowledge of the functions of various escalator components, controls, and assemblies.
Course 209, Escalator Electrical Systems, assists the participant in demonstrating proper safety procedures and a working knowledge of the functions of various escalator and elevator components, controls, and assemblies.
Course 210, Escalator Step Installation and Maintenance, assists the participant in demonstrating proper safety procedures and a working knowledge of the functions of various escalator and elevator components, controls, and assemblies.
Course 211, Escalator-Specific Handrail Installation and Maintenance, assists the participant in demonstrating proper safety procedures and a working knowledge of the functions of various escalator handrail components, controls, and assemblies.
Course 212, Escalator-Specific Inspection and Basic Maintenance, assists the participant in demonstrating a working knowledge of how to inspect and maintain transit escalator systems.
The purpose of this document is to provide technical instructors with resources to deliver a course in Orientation and Background that meets the requirements of the Transit Elevator-Escalator Maintenance Training Standards. The curriculum includes general summary information, a course outline and outlines and objectives for each module.
Course 300, Input Output Control Equipment, assists the participant in building on previous knowledge of input output devices in a transit environment to understand how they interact within a complete system and to explore how to electrically troubleshoot these devices.
302, Advanced Electrical Printreading, assists the participant in building on previous knowledge of reading prints, particularly ladder diagrams, towards understanding how electrical devices are represented on prints and how advanced printreading skills are essential for troubleshooting common electrical circuits found on escalators and elevators in a transit environment.
The Transit Training Network uses technology to enable learning and sharing of training resources across agencies to strengthen training for transit’s frontline workforce.
