Summary

This module introduces the participant to the health and safety concerns that may be faced as a public transportation maintainer. This module will cover the methods that employers use to eliminate or reduce the hazards, sometimes called exposure, including transit workplace practices, policies and regulation. The first part of this module will cover health hazards and some methods of controlling them. In the second section, we will talk about safety and physical hazards, and the regulations and policies that are applied. Finally, we will review security concerns and the maintainer’s role in keeping the workplace safe for themselves, for fellow transit employees, and for passengers.
